Slovenia is currently engaged in the reintroduction of a dual vocational education and training system. In this context, Maja Makovec Brenčič, the Slovenian Minister of Education, Science and Sport, visited several institutions in Switzerland, among them the Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training SFIVET in Zollikofen.

After an exchange of experience at the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SERI, Cornelia Oertle, Director of SFIVET, received the Slovenian Minister and her delegation at SFIVET in Zollikofen. The constructive discussions focused on the role of SFIVET, the situation in Slovenia and a possible cooperation.

Since the visit of the German Federal President, Joachim Gauck, in Slovenia in November 2014, the embassies of Germany, Austria and Switzerland in Slovenia have been working together to assist Slovenia in the introduction of a dual vocational education and training system. The Swiss Embassy remains in close contact with SFIVET on this matter.
