Vocational education and training is at the heart of a major reform taking place in Côte d'Ivoire. The State Secretariat of Technical Education and Vocational Training would like to create new opportunities for young people on the labour market. In order to achieve this, it has decided to optimise the range of available education and training options, to involve businesses to a larger extent in training and to improve infrastructure.

The Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (SFIVET) has now received a mandate to provide the necessary expertise to guide this process. In particular, SFIVET will assist Côte d'Ivoire with the development of VET programmes and teacher training.

On Friday, 23 March 2018, Mamadou Touré, State Secretary for Technical Education and Vocational Training of Côte d’Ivoire, and Dr. Philippe Gnaegi, Chairman of the SFIVET Board, signed an agreement covering specific cooperation over the next two years. This agreement was signed in the presence of Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann.
