In the “Occupational profile” research field, scientific studies focus on VET professionals, in particular vocational school teachers ( their instructional practices, their motivation, their careers and preparation for teaching, etc.). This research combines pedagogical and psychological perspectives.
The objectives of this research field include the development of (evidence-based) knowledge about VET professionals and their profiles. This knowledge can be used to facilitate recruitment of future vocational teachers and lead to a better understanding of how pedagogical training alters beliefs, knowledge, and instructional practices. From a scientific viewpoint, the work carried out in this research field draws on various socio-cognitive learning models and on educational psychology domain.
At a methodological level, both quantitative and qualitative methods are used, depending on the specific objectives and questions of the studies being conducted. Interviews and questionnaires are used as data collection methods. We also obtain ratings from apprentices regarding instructional practices and use mind maps.
The results and conclusions of our research are published in scientific journals and books. In addition, presentations are given to relevant audiences and articles are disseminated in publications intended for practitioners. These publications and presentations are produced mainly in English and French, and occasionally in German.
