Analysis of GOOD PRACTICES for the inclusion of general education in VPL procedures for VET programmes

National guidelines on the inclusion of general education in VPL procedures for VET programmes have been implemented in the cantons in recent years. SFIVET guides and analyses this process within the scope of its remit. The final report issued in the spring of 2011 highlighted existing difficulties and challenges. OPET therefore set out to determine subsequent action that could be taken to resolve the problems identified. Among the various measures, OPET asked SFIVET to assess good practices associated with cantonal instruments.

The aim is to establish criteria that may be used to analyse cantonal instruments, thereby enabling good practices to be identified and described. After meeting with representatives of the various cantons to decide on the criteria to be applied, researchers will analyse the cantonal instruments. When presenting results, emphasis will be placed on describing good practices. The knowledge gained from this analysis will also enable OPET-supplied documents and instruments relating to general education to be adapted for use in VPL. These documents and instruments should be crafted in such a manner as to better guide and facilitate implementation by the cantons.
