Swiss inventory of VNIL practices (2016 update of the European inventory on the validation of non-formal and informal learning)

Working with the European Commission, the European Center for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) directs and publishes a bi-annual inventory of European VNIL practices. Each country, including Switzerland, contributes to this by producing an inventory of its own practices.

For Switzerland, it is the Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (SFIVET) that received the mandate to conduct the 2016 inventory.

This work will entail two activities.

  • Activity 1 (June 2015): gather data for the thematic report: The aim here is to answer a series of questions relating to five topics (validation perspectives; validation and free educational resources; funding of validation; measuring validation; and use of validation in the care and youth work sectors), to recommend national literature in this field and to indicate the names of important actors/potential participants for thematic workshops. As part of this process, country experts will conduct a national review of previous versions of the inventory and will answer around three (or more) questions relating to each topic.
  • Activity 2 (February 2016): Draft national reports covering the aforementioned topics in depth.
