During interaction with others in the context of workplace training, learners sometimes experience role strain as a result of their ambivalent status. For example, while learners are seen as apprentices, there are some situations where they are viewed as employees. The dissertation project shows how and to what extent role strain affects learners' overall perception of quality in dual-track VET in general and how it also influences their level of satisfaction and commitment to their training in particular.

This doctoral thesis was prepared as part of an SNSF-funded project How is the quality of upper-secondary-level VET understood by its players, and how does it influence learner commitment?
