My name is Gian Thöni. I’m 17 years old and am currently in the second year of my commerce apprenticeship. To continue pursuing my sporting passion while training, I needed an organisation that would support me. I’ve found the perfect host company in SFIVET which allows me to progress both professionally as well as in terms of my sport.
I love playing floorball which I’ve been doing from a very young age. It all started with a trial in Biel. After around eight years, I achieved my dream by joining the ‘Floorball Köniz’ team which enabled me to step up to elite level. To play at this standard, I have to train for over ten hours a week, whether in the gym or in the sports hall. That’s why the four-year sports apprenticeship instead of the three-year VET training is an ideal alternative for me. It means I have enough time to focus on sport while also working at SFIVET and attending sport classes at VET school.
Last semester, I gained lots of new professional experience at SVIFET’s Continuing Training Division. I obtained an insight into internal communications and the role of the team responsible for the courses for examiners.
SFIVET is a great environment in which to train – everyone is really friendly and happy to help if you need a hand with anything. SFIVET also has a number of places – such as the library or group rooms – where you can hold productive meetings or simply find a bit of peace and quiet to focus on your work.
