Review and revision of training

You wish to revise a training programme and/or vocational or professional qualification to address the future needs of the labour market.
We work with you to develop pedagogical principles that enable the acquisition of professional competences that match both the current and future needs of a given professional activity.

SFUVET

In workshops, we ask professionals to describe the various activities that are currently relevant in their line of work as well as those that may be relevant in the future. Based on this information, we draft a clear competence profile and submit this document to the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) for approval. For training at upper-secondary level, we help the professional organisation’s working group to develop a training plan and portions of the corresponding VET ordinance for a given VET programme. For training at tertiary-level, we help the working group to draft examination rules and guidelines for federal examinations for professional qualifications and/or prepare core syllabuses for study programmes at professional education institutions.

Our services at a glance:

Analysis / competence profile

Each competence profile is like a snapshot of a given professional activity. It shows precisely what professional competences a person must have in order to carry out that professional activity. For training at upper-secondary level, the competence profile serves as the frame of reference for the VET ordinance and training plan to be used for the given VET programme. For training at tertiary level, the competence profile is used to prepare the rules and guidelines for federal examinations for professional qualifications or to draft the core syllabus for study programmes at professional education institutions. We guide and assist you in the process of preparing these documents.

Your benefits:

  • A competence profile ensures that the future training programme is geared towards acquisition of specific professional competences and that the corresponding examination verifies acquisition of those exact same professional competences
  • Professional competences will be consistently aligned with the needs of the labour market
  • The concerns of different linguistic regions of Switzerland will be heard and taken into account
  • Professionals with recent work experience work closely with experts and decision-makers. This ensures broad-based support for the description and presentation of future requirements for the given professional activity and enables continuous validation.

Our services:

  • Planning and leading workshops based on SFUVET standards, which have proven to be effective
  • Preparation of competence profiles in accordance with federal requirements
  • Incorporating feedback from various consultations
Training plan / VET ordinance for vocational qualifications (upper-secondary level)

Each training plan is based on the professional competences described in the competence profile. A training plan sets out the specific training objectives of each learning location (i.e. host company, vocational school, branch training centre). The performance objectives of the host company, vocational school and branch training centres are also carefully coordinated. Each training plan is accompanied by a corresponding VET ordinance, which establishes the necessary legal basis for the VET programme. This VET ordinance contains a lesson table, an overview of branch courses and the qualification procedure (final examination) for the given vocational qualification.

We guide and assist you in the process of preparing these documents.

Your benefits:

  • The VET ordinance will be consistently based on the competence profile
  • The training plan will match the needs of the given occupation, will be clearly formulated and will ensure coordination of training content across the three learning locations
  • A lesson table will be included, enabling training to be geared towards acquisition of specific professional competences
  • The qualification procedure (final examination) will be streamlined, yet efficient and effective

  • Planning and leading working group meetings
  • Assistance with formulation of performance objectives and description of professional competences
  • Preparation of the document to be used as the frame of reference for the allocation of training content across learning locations

Rules and guidelines for federal examinations for professional qualifications (tertiary level)

For federal examinations for professional qualifications, the examination rules and guidelines form the basis for both preparatory training and the corresponding examination. Both documents are consistently designed to enable testing of professional competences as well as maintaining the requirement level indicated in the competence profile. This ensures that both preparatory training and the federal examinations themselves will be directly relevant to professional practice. We guide and assist you in the process of preparing these documents.

Your benefits:

  • Examination rules and guidelines will be optimally aligned with the specific needs of the given professional activity
  • The federal examination will be designed in a way that ensures the testing of professional competences that match the specific needs of the given professional activity
  • The training concept (modular or classical) that will make clear reference to the specific professional competences described in the competence profile

Core syllabus for study programmes at professional education institutions (tertiary level)

Each core syllabus describes the professional profile and the competences to be acquired. This document also includes key aspects of the study programme such as the course schedule, admission requirements and qualification procedure.

We guide and assist you in the process of preparing these documents.

Your benefits:

  • The core syllabus will be tailored to the needs of the labour market and suited for implementation in a classroom setting
