Antje Barabasch presents innovative approaches to workplace training

At the end of January 2020, the President of the Group of Fifteen, Dr. Peter Staub opened the organisation’s 21st Symposium, which was devoted to the theme ‘Kein Stein bleibt auf dem anderen – Die neue DNA für die Immobilienwirtschaft’ (‘No Stone Left Unturned - New DNA for the Real Estate Industry'). Around 400 highly influential participants, including key stakeholders from the Swiss real estate sector, business leaders, policymakers, civil servants representing Swiss authorities and agencies at federal, cantonal and communal level as well as prominent figures from the research and academic community gathered at the Technopark Zurich for this event. Prof. Dr. Antje Barabasch from the Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (SFIVET) gave a presentation entitled, ‘Berufs- und Weiterbildung 2030. Wie wir lernen, was wir können’ (‘Skills Development in 2030. How Know-how is Acquired’) in which she described innovative approaches used by Swiss companies to provide workplace training. There was also a roundtable discussion chaired by Rainer Maria Salzgeber, including Lars Thomsen (one of Europe’s leading futurists), Prof. Dr. Ernst Hafen (former President of the ETH Zurich), Dr. Thomas Gartzen (Head of the European 4.0 Transformation Center in Aachen), and Markus Mettler (CEO of Halter AG).
